Tushar Krishna is an Associate Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. He also holds the ON Semiconductor Junior Professorship. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT (2014), a M.S.E in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University (2009), and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi (2007). Before joining Georgia Tech in 2015, Krishna spent a year as a researcher at the VSSAD group at Intel, Massachusetts.

Krishna’s research spans computer architecture, interconnection networks, networks-on-chip (NoC) and deep learning accelerators – with a focus on optimizing data movement in modern computing systems. Three of his papers have been selected for IEEE Micro’s Top Picks from Computer Architecture, one more received an honorable mention, and three have won best paper awards. He received the National Science Foundation (NSF) CRII award in 2018, a Google Faculty Award in 2019, and a Facebook Faculty Award in 2019 and 2020.

Bernard Kippelen

Bernard Kippelen

Bernard Kippelen was born and raised in Alsace, France. He studied at the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg where he received a Maitrise in Solid-State Physics in 1985, and a Ph.D. in Nonlinear Optics in 1990. From 1990 to 1997 he was Charge de Recherches at the CNRS, France. In 1994, he joined the faculty of the Optical Sciences Center at the University of Arizona. There, he developed a research and teaching program on polymer optics and plastic electronics. In August 2003, Dr. Kippelen joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology where his research ranges from the investigation of fundamental physical processes (nonlinear optical activity, charge transport, light harvesting and emission), to the design, fabrication and testing of light-weight flexible optoelectronic devices and circuits based on nanostructured organic materials. He currently serves as director of the Center for Organic Photonics and Electronics, and as co-president of the Lafayette Institute, a major optoelectronics commercialization initiative that is based at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in Metz, France. He currently holds 25 patents and has co-authored over 270 refereed publications and 14 book chapters. His publications have received over 20,000 citations and his h-index is 73 (Google Scholar). He served as chair and co-chair of numerous international conferences on organic optoelectronic materials and devices and as deputy editor of Energy Express. He was the founding editor of Energy Express.

Asif Khan

Asif Khan

Asif Khan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering with a courtesy appointment in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Khan’s research focuses on microelectronic devices, specifically on ferroelectric devices that address the challenges faced by the semiconductor industry due to the end of transistor miniaturization. His research group at Georgia Tech focuses on all aspects of ferroelectricity ranging from materials physics, growth, and electron microscopy to micro-/nano-fabrication of electronic devices, all the way to ferroelectric circuits and systems for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-centric applications.

J. Stevenson Kenney

J. Stevenson Kenney was born in St. Louis, MO in 1962. He received the BSEE, MSEE, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, all from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1985, 1990, and 1994, respectively. Kenney has over 14 years of industrial experience in wireless communications. He has held engineering and management positions at Electromagnetic Sciences, Scientific Atlanta, Pacific Monolithics, and Spectrian. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society. In January 2000, Kenney returned to Georgia Tech as Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Kenney has authored or co-authored more than 100 technical papers in the areas of microwave electronics, acoustics, and signal processing.

Benjamin Kein

Benjamin Kein

Benjamin Klein received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994 and 1995, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign in 2000. The subject of his doctoral dissertation was the theory and modeling of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), which are a class of semiconductor laser used for telecommunications applications.

From 2000-2003, Klein worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, Colorado, working on the modeling and design of semiconductor quantum-dot based devices, including single photon emitters and single electron transistors. From 2003-2020 he was a faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology, first on the Savannah campus, and later in Atlanta. At the time of his departure from Georgia Tech, he was an Associate Professor and the Associate Chair for Graduate Affairs in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Omer Inan

Omer Inan

Omer T. Inan received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2004, 2005, and 2009, respectively.

He worked at ALZA Corporation in 2006 in the Drug Device Research and Development Group. From 2007-2013, he was chief engineer at Countryman Associates, Inc., designing and developing several high-end professional audio products. From 2009-2013, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford. In 2013, he joined the School of ECE at Georgia Tech as an assistant professor.

Inan is generally interested in designing clinically relevant medical devices and systems, and translating them from the lab to patient care applications. One strong focus of his research is in developing new technologies for monitoring chronic diseases at home, such as heart failure.

He and his wife were both varsity athletes at Stanford, competing in the discus and javelin throw events respectively.

William Hunt

Hunt grew up in the literary haven of Columbus, Mississippi, the boyhood home of Tennessee Williams, and received his B.S.E.E. from the University of Alabama in 1976. He worked for Harris Corporation for two years in the areas of acousto-optics and surface acoustic wave (SAW). He then entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his S.M.E.E. in 1980 and conducted research in the field of auditory physiology. After four years with Bolt, Beranek and Newman, Inc. he entered the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana where he received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1987. His research there was on acoustic charge transport (ACT) devices and the SAW properties of Gallium Arsenide.

Hunt joined the faculty of the Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall of 1987 as one of the original members of the Pettit Microsystems Research Center. There he founded the Microelectronic Acoustics Group which focuses on the development of ultrasonic devices that can be integrated with Microsystems. Among these have been, ACT devices, micromachined polyvinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene (PVDF)-based transducers for intravascular ultrasound, acousto-optic devices for tunable lasers as well as SAW and bulk acoustic wave (BAW) devices for wireless and chemical sensor applications.

Jennifer Hasler

Jennifer Hasler received her B.S.E. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Arizona State University in August 1991. She received her Ph.D. in computation and neural systems from California Institute of Technology in February 1997. Hasler is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Atlanta is the coldest climate in which Hasler has lived. Hasler founded the Integrated Computational Electronics (ICE) laboratory at Georgia Tech, a laboratory affiliated with the Laboratories for Neural Engineering. Hasler is a member of Tau Beta P, Eta Kappa Nu, and the IEEE.

Joyelle (Joy) Harris, Ph.D.

Joyelle (Joy) Harris, Ph.D.

Dr. Joy Harris has a diverse career within the Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech). Through her primary appointment as a faculty member in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), she serves as a teacher, mentor, and research advisor to undergraduate students. Within ECE, Dr. Harris focuses on lowering barriers and increasing access to all opportunities within the department. She also serves as faculty director for the Engineering for Social Innovation (ESI) Center, where she creates the space for students to use their technical skills for positive social impact. 

As ESI director, she leads undergraduate service breaks to developing countries; she operates a graduate leadership and development program; and she helps her students increase the operating capacity of non-profit organizations. Dr. Harris formerly served as faculty director of the Global Leadership Living and Learning Community (LLC), where she taught a course in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and she helped her first-year LLC students to successfully integrate into the GA Tech community. Dr. Harris also served as one of the Associate Directors for the CREATE-X entrepreneurship initiative. In this capacity, she helped students increase their entrepreneurial confidence through designing their own career paths and by launching startups. Through all her roles on campus, Dr. Harris enjoys teaching and serving thousands of students throughout the academic year. 

Joy’s educational background includes a bachelor's in mathematics from Spelman College and a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech. She earned her master’s and Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Princeton University and an MBA at Georgia Tech in 2017.

Matthew Hale

Matthew Hale

Matthew Hale joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech as an Associate Professor in the spring of 2024. His research interests include multi-agent control and optimization, deceptive decision-making, and applications of these methods to drones and other robots. He has received the NSF CAREER Award, ONR YIP, and AFOSR YIP. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Matthew was Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida. He received his BSE from the University of Pennsylvania, and he received his MS and PhD from Georgia Tech.
